Dre Sanchez - Dating Identity Project

I will be doing a tongue in cheek 11" x "17 poster.

I will be looking at movie posters for inspiration. This will allow me to break away from the cut out look of my first project and the inky, graphic novel look of the last project. I will be playing around with brushes in Photoshop.

It would be great if I can get a Normal Rockwell-ish look, but yeah. I have a real fondness for the wicked styling of 1970s blaxploitation posters.

Another inspiration will be the 1940s posters for cartoonist Tex Avery's controversial theatrical shorts, however with a deeper meaning. In these old movie posters, women were treated like sexual objects. The initial idea is to flip it - so instead of a dancing girl or what not, it would be a librarian or nun or the "good girl." Try to keep a comedic tone after the heaviness of my last two projects. This will allow be to get loose with the illustration and think creatively about the type.

Again these are just initial thoughts, and I will most likely add more or go a different route come Tuesday. But I just wanted to share this.
